The Dottie Sue
The Dottie Sue was named in honor of one of the most enthusiastic beach bums that ever lived. Dottie Sue Wells grew up in walking distance of Santa Rosa Beach on the California Coast. During WWII she met a handsome soldier from Alabama whom she married and moved to his home town outside of Birmingham. Though she lived out her life more than two-thousand miles from her beloved shore line, she cherished her annual trips to the blinding white sands of the Gulf Coast where she would spend hours with her toes in the sand and watching the waves lap the shore. She taught all of her grandchildren to make "drizzle castles" and how to be a proper beach bum. It is in her memory that we sail and offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy the ocean and the beaches the way she did.
